Steven Gerrard’s Rangers delivered the performance of the season in a resounding statement over 56.

Destroying Motherwell 1-6 at their own patch, Gerrard finally broke Graham Alexander’s resistance to the Famous, and Ibrox Noise brings you our ratings for the best SPL display of the season by a country mile.

McGregor:

We’ll be honest, he could have done better with Mugabi’s goal, the follow up getting through space that shouldn’t have been there. McGregor normally makes himself big, but just didn’t here. Other than that didn’t have much to do. 6

Tavernier:

After the abuse we took for daring to defend him lately, he delivered another brilliant show of attacking, assisting, and a wonder volley on top. Sorry, we’ve been critics, but we always call out excellent displays when we see them, and Tav IS responding to the Patterson threat. He was superb today. We’ll forgive his small part over the Well goal because he saved another sure one as well. 9

Goldson:

A shambolic piece of lazy tracking for the Well goal, just didn’t care and left it to Tav to clean up – looks passionless and uninterested and had few clearances to speak of. 6

Balogun:

A stronger match as usual from the Nigerian compared with Goldson, Leon cleared a lot, tackled a lot, and very little came down his side. 7

Bassey:

Did a man’s job with crossing and regularly provided width. Is a more defensive LB than Barisic but his distribution was good. 7

Kamara:

Quiet match but more effective than he has been, he too benefited from Arfield, and he showed some good touches in the opposition half while nailing a beautiful goal. He’ll be happy with this. 8

Davis:

An absolute leap over recent displays – no coincidence Arfield was there. Davis looked far more comfortable with his old mate, and ran the show. 8

Arfield:

His energy was obvious, and boy did it change just about everything. Despite the early setback, Arfield’s sheer presence lifted the boys around him and things just clicked way better. How many Bears are still going to doubt this player’s importance to the Famous? 8

Aribo:

Lots of creativity, dribbling, and pass and go saw the Nigerian looking dangerous and threatening. A bright show from him and he’s definitely returning to form. Lovely. 8

Morelos:

In honesty, he could have been better. Lost the ball a lot, wasn’t effective in the air, and on a day we scored 6, he didn’t get a single one. He’s just not close to form. But he wasn’t rotten. 6

Sakala:

Well, what can we say about the hat-trick hero? Everything about his display was gusto, energy and drive, and while his contribution up to his first goal was a little patchy, that confidence from seeing the net ripple changed his game. After that, completely outstanding. 10

Subs:

Roofe:

Ever seen a player more depressed at scoring?! 6

Wright:

Added a little spark. 6

Simpson: shrug

Manager:

Steven Gerrard did it. He made changes. Big changes. The system was tweaked to allow Arfield’s presence to be maximised, and mostly everyone benefited from this. The heads didn’t go down from the goal, and he’ll be thrilled at seeing so many players delivering. He won’t want to drop Scotty now, that’s for sure. 8
