Media cover up at Celtic scandal, focuses on Rangers instead

A lot of readers have been at pains to elaborate on our anti-Rangers observations of political and media slating of our club while failing to hold Celtic to account at all.

In particular, the disquieting emergence of convicted sex offender Jim Torbett being arrested and charged on new offences, and the Scottish media and political silence on it as a result.

As we know, the past week has seen a systematic assault on Rangers, from the sectarian chanting done by a stupid minority of fans, to a national red top using historical social media to ‘expose’ some historical tweets by a fan group or two.

Indeed, the likes of Yousaff and Dornan have joined in the fun, targeting those fans, you know, the ones ALREADY convicted and banned by the club for their behaviour, and remaining stoically quiet about the new revelations on Torbett.

True, it’s not STRICTLY a Celtic story, but then neither was a Rangers fans’ group’s historical tweets either, yet the tabloid ran with that and is making quite the hoo hah over it.

No, this country’s media and political leaders instead go for vague Rangers fan ‘stories’ and continue to ‘call them out’ but fail disgracefully to do the same with Celtic.

Did we hear Yousaff or Dornan or anyone else condemning Leigh Griffiths’ attempts at grooming an underage girl? It got covered a bit in the press, barely, then was swept away completely with the bizarre conclusion he hadn’t broken the law.

No, there is a noticeable and systemic pursuit of our club that goes beyond newsworthy, and clearly into targeting.

And if we hadn’t told you about Torbett, chances are you would never have found out.

Bit like the media wants.
