Horror stat revealed as Stevie gains unwanted record

Steven Gerrard has gained the unwanted ‘record’ of being the first Rangers manager since Stuart McCall to lose three matches in a row.

Following the horror days of 2015’s playoff loss to Motherwell (Rangers lost both legs and lost the second leg v Hibs preceding them) this is the first time in 6 years a Rangers manager has lost three matches one after the other.

This is not the sort of statistic we wanted to be discussing, but unfortunately it’s reflective of current form, and the deep malaise creeping in.

The opening match v Livi was ponderous, and far from convincing, but it goes down as Rangers’ sole victory this season, and that really is a diabolical record.

Stevie described the ‘fear and panic’ that set in after Malmo scored two in four minutes, just like they did in Sweden, and just like happened in Sweden.

A lot of Rangers fans are wondering what on earth has gone wrong.

Is it the crowds? A lack of fitness? A lack of invention? A lack of signings? We discussed the Liverpool Fallacy a few days ago and got roundly slaughtered for the article, but sadly we stand by what we said, and wonder if it’s ‘resting on our laurels’ as well.

Whatever is going on at Ibrox, it needs to resolve quickly.

It’s not technically crisis yet, but if Rangers don’t get some momentum soon, and start stringing the wins together, we may end up in deep trouble.
