The majority of Rangers fans in a straw poll on Ibrox Noise have said ‘nay’ to the possibility of Rangers signing Lewis Ferguson this summer.

The 21-year old central/attacking/defensive midfielder has been on Rangers’ radar for some considerable time, never quite graduating to serious concrete interest, but due to the name and in the views of many, his ability, he’s remained a target for a future move to Govan.

His performances at Pittodrie have undeniably impressed many, and he won YPOTY in 2020, following his runner-up to Ryan Kent the previous season, and his career stats and consistency do speak for themselves.

But a great number of Rangers fans believe he simply isn’t good enough, and Ibrox Noise is on the fence on this one given the surprise of fellow former Dons player Scott Wright who has certainly impressed for Steven Gerrard’s men despite his modest cost.

It is a reality that Rangers’ midfield will need some work this summer – Steven Davis cannot play every match, Glen Kamara may be sold, Ryan Jack’s fitness is a problem and Bongani Zungu hasn’t made the grade, while Scott Arfield too has become a tad unreliable.

Many fans do stress the need for a big bruising tough midfielder in the ilk of Barry Ferguson or dare we say it Celtic’s Scott Brown, but most of them seem sceptical Lewis Ferguson can be that man.

Time, as always, will tell.
