Voting is now open for Ibrox Noise Rangers POTY

With 55 only a few weeks away, Ibrox Noise decided to throw an early POTY poll to you.

Who is your Rangers player of the year for season 20/21?

Now we know there’s still the split, and still the title, but with the bulk of the work to secure 55 done, it’s time to pick our contenders for the POTY.

We also know a lot of form has been patchy at best since the new year, so we’re going to overlook that and talk on the majority of the season so far, so bear that in mind with our assessments.

We will then leave it up to you to make your choice at this point.

Without further ado:

Allan McGregor:

He’s not had the season of his life, but he’s made some of the saves of the season. He’s shown leadership, and been the voice at the back. He’s honestly not had to do a lot overall this campaign, but some of his performances have been stellar.

James Tavernier:

What a ridiculous season this guy has had – stats better than most strikers wingers and AMs put together, Tavernier’s form has taken his value into the £30M range, and he is among the absolute front runners to win this.

Connor Goldson:

Goals against give some idea of how consistent and effective this previously-maligned stopper has been. Calm personified, his steady feet have been a real asset this season, and he’s actually led very well. His clearances have always been plentiful but he’s turned the rest around big time, and after being a scapegoat for so many fans, he’s now a surprise contender for POTY.

Borna Barisic:

We admit his displays haven’t screamed as loudly as last season, but did you know his stats are already similar to all of last campaign? We got so used to how good Barisic is it isn’t a shock any more. He probably is an outsider here, given he’s a ‘quiet’ player, but he’s still had a great season.

Steven Davis:

What a season he’s had – another front runner, Davis’ influence was never more obvious than his impact when he came on v Killie. One of the few not to have suffered a form dip after new year, Davis’ is not only consistent, he’s exceptional. We barely hesitate to call him world class and one of the finest players in this club’s history. This season, maybe, is the best of his entire career. Stellar.

Ryan Jack:

Injury has stopped this being the season of his life, but his impact was never more noted than the number of goals Rangers conceded pre-injury with him in the side – none. Astonishing midfielder, great reader, and he’s been superb again.

Glen Kamara:

Not as obvious as the rest, a feeling he’s played a little within himself, but some of his performances in autumn were the £35M star he is these days. The game is easy to this guy, and he’s destined to move to a bigger league one day.

Scott Arfield:

It’s hard to overstate how important this chap is, and how influential he’s been. Without doubt, Steven Gerrard’s best signing overall since joining, and ironically enough the manager’s first. Arfield has just been a titan for this club, and took losing his place with grace and came back stronger for us. Another absolute front runner for this.

Ianis Hagi:

He’s been getting better and better all season, and after a sticky start he’s slowly eking his way into ‘undroppable’. Creative, hard working, and a massive source of assists, Ibrox Noise’s huge Romanian audience is spellbound by this lad and while he’s an outsider to win POTY, we admire hugely his refusal to cave to his country’s hatefest media who want him to fail.

Ryan Kent:

Yes, his ‘form drop’ has been well-documented, but what an autumn he had. He was sensational. He obliterated and terrified his opponents and it made Leeds bid big money for him. Another outsider but so much of his work this campaign has been stellar.

Didn’t make it:

Despite our amazing season, a number of players, who perhaps we expected more from, didn’t deliver or took too long to get up to some sort of speed.

Joe Aribo, Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Leon Balogun and Filip Helander, while all playing plenty, simply don’t qualify for this for varying reasons and as such weren’t included. Sue us.
