Ryan Jack has revealed a telling confession about opponents and tactics, maybe suggesting a bit more than he should have!
The vital midfielder was over the moon to score at the weekend, but admitted his joy at the goal was completely secondary to getting the win and helping his team mates, before perhaps expressing a bit more than was entirely wise.
He said:
In a very subtle remark, Jack has shown other teams in the SPL how to get more success against Rangers – by not sitting in and making the low block, but in fact having a go while keeping the door closed.
Hamilton, of course, did the best job of the lot at doing this, managing to not only press Rangers but actually dominate the match – the Killie match was a bit better from the Famous but a long way off great, and the stats for the visitors showed that while they did a much more containing job than attacking, it took a worldie from Jack to get the three points.
We all remember the outrage from fans when James Tavernier showed opponents how to beat us in a match program, and how he conceded we were mentally weak – while Jack hasn’t gone anywhere near as far as that, he has suggested the way to success is by giving it a go.
Then again… he could be trolling opponents and trying to bait them into expansive football, thus leaving themselves exposed…
Either way, curious quote…
