Attitude adjustment badly needed at Ibrox

Remember the headlines last week about the draw at Hamilton and how Rangers were rubbish and it was an awful display and this that and the other?

Remove Ryan Jack’s worldie from Ibrox’s equation on Saturday and pretty much every word Allan McGregor slaughtered his side with could be used all over again.

We concede – the display v Killie was not quite as dreadful as that absolute catastrophe at New Douglas Park, but while Killie’s New Manager Syndrome was alive and well and the visitors were steely and up for the fight, the home side’s display was still unacceptable for a side about to win the title.

The number of players off the boil is pretty staggering, with only McGregor himself, Jack, Davis, Hagi and Itten getting the pass marks (more than, they took the whole burden for the side) while the rest stumbled aimlessly and frankly heartlessly through another 90.

None of the defenders impressed, with average outings from Goldson (who’s hit a strange time to suffer a drop in form) and Balogun (caught a couple of times) while Barisic and Tavernier continued to suffer from a pretty long running malaise in their displays respectively.

Joe Aribo was bloody terrible, until he finally woke up well into the second half following the first half goal, while Ryan Kent struggled to have any impact at all, yet again.

It’s just a very stagnant end to the season – sure, don’t get us wrong, we’ll pretty much cry with joy when 55 is secured, and it will be.

It’s just so disappointing that the performances are this torrid in the lead up to it.

3 points are all that matter, and at this point in the season, that’s probably truer than ever.

But the attitude of too many of our players was not only exposed at Hamilton, but carried on regardless v Killie.

We want to say ‘we’re sure Stevie will read the riot act etc’ but we said that last week and the response this time really wasn’t stark.

Still pedestrian, still lacking in incision.

Will it get better in Belgium?

We’ll see, won’t we?
