What on earth is Romania’s problem with Rangers?

Ibrox Noise has noted with some disbelief, confusion and slight frustration the tone of reporting coming out of Romania over our club at present.

With one of the biggest stars of their country in our ranks, we’re baffled to see, rather than positive words towards Rangers in their press, a state of toxic anti-Rangers nonsense which has been coming out in a procession the past few weeks.

First we had Rivaldo saying Hagi should leave Rangers.

Next Puscas saying Hagi was a failure in life and football.

Then the absolute garbage about his father becoming new Celtic manager.

And now even more rot about Hagi leaving for Leipzig.

We can’t understand why Romania has such an issue with this player, and this club.

It’s been a non-stop conveyer belt of negative Rangers stuff, or negative Hagi stuff, and perhaps you lot are better placed than us to explain why.

We spoke recently to Digisport in Romania about Hagi, and explained he’d had issues settling in this season after a bright February and March, but had picked up in recent weeks, and that piece was at least a contrast to the otherwise negative tone we’ve seen about our club over there and that particular player.

The Hagi and Rangers story seems to be fuel for a lot of negative press, and we’re not sure why – and it’s not just Scottish press this time.

Does Romania really dislike the Hagi name that much?
