Stevie dumps forward in yet more changes at Ibrox

January has been a month of change, with a lot of shuffling the deck at Ibrox in terms of playing personnel, but the confirmation Glenn Middleton has gone to St Johnstone followed by Jordan Jones’ imminent exit to Sunderland means unless Rangers secure Scott Wright now, aside the forgettable Brandon Barker there will be no competition at all for first choice Ryan Kent.

Obviously Stevie will have planned this situation, and he’s clearly letting Middleton and Jones go, and evidently doesn’t rate them at all, but to have just Barker left as the only man pushing Kent really isn’t ideal.

Gerrard, aside Kent, clearly didn’t rate a single winger at Ibrox, with Jones, Middleton and Jamie Murphy all dumped pretty ruthlessly and his own man Barker only playing a fringe role.

True, Kent at his best pastes the rest of them, but it’s a surreal set of affairs that he doesn’t have to really look over his shoulder at all right now.

As for Jones?

His exit has been on the cards ever since ‘that’ tackle and Stevie’s response to it. He wasn’t a Gerrard signing, he was a Mark Allen capture, a player our manager wasn’t interested in.

Whether right or wrong, Jones has lost two years of his career at Ibrox, both through the manager disliking him and his own gaffes as well.

We rate him as a player, but like Middleton this manager doesn’t and he moves on.

But we really need Scott Wright ASAP and surely work is being done to secure that.

Been a lively January…
