SFA tell Sturgeon to ‘ram it’ as farce continues

We had to laugh at the SFA recently – now it appears they are above the government.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon expressed disgust and concern at Celtic’s unsolicited and unconsented trip to Dubai, and gently insisted that the Scottish FA investigated it.

Without downright ordering an investigation into the flagrant violation of rules committed at Parkhead, the SNP leader stated clearly that one would be prudent.

The SFA’s response: a polite ‘f*ck you’ and the apparent conclusion that Scotland’s government isn’t in Holyrood, it’s at Hampden.

We’re bewildered at how a national association can literally reject a government request.

Many will claim it’s the Celtic influence both in Holyrood and at SFA FC – and there may well be some merit in that.

But equally, there’s also a sense that the SFA, and certainly the SPFL, consider themselves above the law and answerable to no one.

Can you imagine Downing Street demanding an investigation into Liverpool, and the FA telling them to **** off?

That would be absolutely unthinkable.

But up here in Scotland the rules definitely don’t seem to work the way they should.

No change there then.
