Rangers face a big sweat this weekend to get Ryan Jack or Scott Arfield back to face Aberdeen.

The clash, as Ibrox Noise’s Kevin said recently, is arguably the most important Rangers match in 10 years. Win, and it’s a 22 point gap over Celtic. Lose, and they then win, and suddenly they’re aiming at seriously closing the gap to just 7 points.

It’s massive, it’s epic, and it’s the biggest step towards 55 yet.

But my God we need Scotty and Jacko back asap.

The problem is manager Steven Gerrard will have only a clearer picture about their prognosis this week, and probably not good news about them featuring at the weekend.

There’s no denying Jack’s dig has been a miss lately – despite the excellent run and results, our midfield could do with that extra steel, and it was definitely absent against Celtic as their central unit overran ours.

As for Arfield, Rangers are just a better team when he’s around, and we sorely miss him.

We are coping without both of them, as we say – just one loss all season domestically is testament to how the wider squad are faring as a whole.

But against Aberdeen, in form themselves, and desperate to get one over on us as always, especially on their own patch, two arms-up-sleeves grafters like Arfield and Jack could help a lot.

We’ll probably only find out 100% an hour before kick off.
