Stevie G makes massive statement for Motherwell

Steven Gerrard has confirmed his strongest-possible XI to face Motherwell following a poor performance by the ‘fringe’ XI which lost to St Mirren in midweek.

Learning from those errors, Steven Gerrard has gone with the changes we told you about, and it sees Balogun (head knock) dropping out alongside Joe Aribo, Calvin Bassey, Bongani Zungu and Cedric Itten.

Instead, it’s, Morelos aside, Rangers’ strongest side available, with only Ryan Jack and Niko Katic unavailable for selection, but neither of whom would be considered obviously stronger players to have in the XI over today’s lineup.

So it sees McGregor in goal, a back four of Tavernier, Goldson, Helander and Barisic, a midfield of Davis and Kamara, Arfield in front, and a front three of Kent Roofe and Defoe.

It’s a true return to Rangers’ best possible team, and near-enough the first time we think Stevie has pulled out all the heavy hitters in one go.

He will be expecting a massive response to midweek, and if all is pure and holy, this Rangers team should obliterate Robinson’s side.

But of course no complacency, no laying off – we will still need to show up, as so many didn’t midweek.

Rangers expect.
