Steven Gerrard has made a stunning transfer admission just under two weeks before the January window opens:

Rangers won’t be selling ANYONE next month.

Despite all the interest around the club’s key assets, barring a sensationally big bid that is impossible to turn down, not a single desired player will be going out the door next month, and 99% of all bids will be absolutely rejected.

This leaves room, of course, for a goliath of a bid to change the manager and board’s mind, a £40M bid for Glen Kamara, Tavernier or Barisic, for example, might persuade them otherwise.

But barring that, no one is going anywhere, and Stevie has confirmed that while one day we will require to sell the family jewels, it won’t be in January and it won’t disrupt our pursuit of 55.

It’s good news.

It means the only chance of selling would be by obliterating the Scottish record, and that is very unlikely to occur during January.

And it means Rangers’ excellent squad remains intact till at least the end of the season. Meaning no interruptions to 55.
