Attacker will leave, but story over departure is bizarre

We have to say the story today about Glenn Middleton leaving for a loan spell in Holland sounds like a load of fabricated piffle, frankly.

A national red top suggests a glut of Dutch teams are ‘fighting’ for his signature.

On what planet is anyone fighting for Glenn Middleton’s signature?

The guy is an honest trier, but just didn’t develop the way we’d hoped, and isn’t good enough to play for Rangers.

He has also been in limbo hell at Ibrox after two disastrous spells on loan, first at Hibs then at Bradford, both of which couldn’t have gone worse – and this led to his return.

He did manage a little cameo in the cup recently, and actually did ok, but the idea a clutch of clubs are circling him seems a total pile of fantasy.

If Middleton was a sought-after commodity he would have already gone out on loan – he’s completely surplus this season, and the story screams of his agent desperately trying to drum up interest in him.

Which, truthfully, we hope does happen – we’d like to see him thrive at the right club, because he does have talent.

But maybe making up some kind of ‘race’ to secure his signature is perhaps not the best way to advertise his availability.

Either way, he probably will get a new gig next month – hopefully it’s the right one for him.
