Steven Gerrard has delivered the news all Rangers fans wanted to hear – Borna Barisic will be fit for Dundee United.

The Croat international took a nasty one during the international break, and was a major injury doubt for Saturday’s return to domestic action, but the scan returned clean and all is well with the former Osijek star and he’s back in full training to face the Arabs.

It’s brilliant news for Rangers fans – while we were interested to see how deputy Calvin Bassey would fare in his place, Barisic is the number one and no one in Scotland and few in the UK could sufficiently replace him or his crossing, so we’re absolutely delighted we’ll have him start as normal v the Tannadice Terrors.

Croatia actually did Rangers a big service resting him v France – he probably could have played, but they elected against the risk, and left him out instead, giving respect to his club and his employer, and giving us the chance to properly assess and have him scanned to ensure there was no damage.

Which there wasn’t.

So Barisic will be back for Saturday, and assuming all is well, will start.
