Injury blow again for Rangers man

Kemar Roofe at Killie

Kemar Roofe’s latest injury issues (following that early withdrawal v the Imps) haven’t been positively projected after a scan revealed the striker could well be unavailable till deep into the back end of next month.

Steven Gerrard has confirmed it’s touch and go over whether Roofe will be fit for Ross County on the 2nd of October, and should he miss it he won’t been seen back in action till the Celtic match on the 17th and we have to say we’d be surprised if he was thrown straight into that.

But that said by that point Alfredo Morelos might not be a Rangers player and the only alternatives for the trip to fan-less Parkhead would be Cedric Itten, who seems as yet unfavoured by the boss, and Jermain Defoe, who might not be considered quite enough armoury up front alone to handle Celtic’s backline.

So it’s maybe a little bit of a pickle, and it’s immensely frustrating that just when Rangers get one injury case back in the form of Nigeria’s Leon Balogun, they lose another in the form of Roofe.

Brandon Barker and Ryan Jack are sidelined for the medium term too, with Nikola Katic remaining out for a fair few months yet.

We hope these irritating injury travails clear up soon.
