Ex-Ranger… ‘lies’ about departure?

Despite our piece this morning suggesting in fact Ross McCrorie might not have been good enough after all for the shirt, it was nevertheless sad watching him ‘lie’ on national TV today prior to his side’s match with Hibs.
McCrorie said, and we’re paraphrasing, that ‘deep down I always wanted to leave’ and ‘this is where I wanted to be’.
It was surreal and bizarre watching these words come out of his mouth, and you’d have to be a very gullible Sheep to believe them.
McCrorie, a dyed-in-the-wool Rangers fan, who only wanted to play for his team, was ultimately rejected as not good enough despite Steven Gerrard’s earlier contrary claims, and realised his dream of playing for the Famous was not going to happen, so asked to leave.
Yes, he did ask to leave, but only once he absolutely knew it wasn’t going to happen at Ibrox, just like for Greg Docherty and Jamie Murphy.
So it was just with a bit of sadness we saw him claiming one of Rangers’ worst enemies was where he wanted to be.
In his head, he wasn’t lying; ‘here’ could have meant ‘playing football in the first team’, but factually, we know the only one geographical place worse than Pittodrie for a Rangers man is the Meccanodome.
So McCrorie is now a Sheep, whether he likes it or not.
We want to be decent and wish him well, but it’s hard to do that with any player under Derek McInnes.
But hey, what’s done is done.
