Rangers blitz – club on verge of four-man announcement

Rangers are on the verge of confirming a four-man stunner with the impending announcement of four major new permanent contracts.

Steven Gerrard has been announced as negotiating a new two-year extension, although the manager was coy when quizzed on it recently.

But there is further breaking news with the long-hyped rumours around Jermain Defoe, Allan McGregor and Steven Davis.

Defoe
is to sign a permanent one-year deal, making him a proper full Rangers player at last – an excellent signing, his experience and knowledge have made him an invaluable addition to the squad and he’s rarely let the side down when called upon.

Davis’ extension is a reward for his excellent form since the split last season – he signed a one year deal in the summer following the loan from Southampton, and will get another year at least added onto this. This is a well-earned contract.

And lastly as we reported some weeks ago Allan McGregor’s extension is more of a clause kicking in based on appearances made – it was said to be 25 appearances and he would automatically get an extension – naturally he’s made many more for Rangers in his second spell than that, but it’s a case of dotting the i’s and scoring the t’s.

It makes for a good piece of news for Rangers that four of the key and most important personnel at the club are in it for the long haul.

Good stuff.
