Four-man blow for Rangers – Stevie hit hard

Steven Gerrard faces a massive four-man blow after Filip Helander, Steven Davis, Jordan Jones and of course Alfredo Morelos were confirmed or near-confirmed absentees for tonight’s trip to Easter Road and in some cases, well beyond.

Morelos, naturally, is suspended for his indiscretions at Motherwell, and Jermain Defoe, who, it has to be said, isn’t in good form at all, will deputise in his place. This is certainly a bit of a blow to say the least, to go from one of Europe’s hottest properties to Defoe who’s on a bit of a dry spell having not scored since October 27th in 6 appearances. Let’s hope the man’s professionalism raises his game for tonight.

Jordan Jones still isn’t fully ready to return despite playing some Dev minutes lately – the Norn Iron star has been out since September and suffered a setback in training – we simply do not know when he will be available again and he was ill earlier in the week which doesn’t help much. He’s touch and go for tonight.

Steven Davis is getting closer but won’t be available for at least a week – he’s said to be close for the Killie clash but it’s still touch and go with him.

And last but not least Filip Helander is done well into the new year. Braced up in a boot, the Swede will be out at absolutely least until the end of January and likely beyond that too.

It’s not ideal to face Jack Ross’s side, but you use the hand you’re dealt.
