Former title winner to leave Rangers; reports

Reports have confirmed that Rangers’ number 2 Wes Foderingham’s contract will not be renewed at the end of this season, giving the former first-choice between the sticks another 6 or 7 months as a Rangers player before being freed onto pastures new.

It is not thought the former Swindon man will go anywhere on loan come January bar an emergency request, meaning he will remain at Ibrox till the end of May next year and finally move on, following his demotion after the capture of Allan McGregor.

For his part McGregor is due to confirm another year on his deal which should be announced in the coming weeks, but it’s the departure of Foderingham which is now guaranteed come 2020.

His deal means he is free to speak to potential suitors in January, and we’re sure a former Rangers goalkeeper is a pretty decent and lucrative Bosman for many League One sides in England, and he’s certainly one who, while perhaps not of the required level, certainly did his best in the Rangers shirt and was a good stopper who did the club a turn in the Championship and of course won the title there with us.

Either way, either Rangers will move for a new deputy (there are rumours about St Mirren’s Václav Hladký) or recall Blackpool’s Jak Alnwick instead.
