Stevie G has announced his four ‘undroppables’; and there’s a stunning omission….

Steven Gerrard, surprisingly, has revealed his four ‘undroppables’ after confirming January action in the transfer market may be limited.

Rangers manager had a tough time of it on Sunday, along with the team, following an unnecessary dropped pair of points in the pursuit of restoring first place in the SPL.

And now he has admitted, in delving into the transfer market, that four players in his team are essentially absolute first-picks and he’d be unable to find more like them this winter.

Even more surprisingly, one of the omissions in this list raises something of an eyebrow.

He said:

“I think it’ll be very hard to find someone in January who’s better than a Ryan Jack, a Connor Goldson, a Joe Aribo or an Alfredo Morelos.”

Confirming Connor Goldson is a 100% mainstay, Gerrard surprises everyone with the omission of captain James Tavernier, who he promoted himself to permanent fixture of the honour while starting him in every match since, bar one maybe two rests.

Furthermore, the manager praised last January’s acquisition of both Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe, but didn’t include them as ‘undroppables’.

It was a very interesting quote – Aribo has been far from spectacular since joining, but appears to be a Gerrard favourite this early, and Goldson has come under fire from wide portions of the fanbase for perceived incompetency.

But it’s that absence of Tavernier from the list which raises the big eyebrow.
