Rangers in five-player megadeal blockbuster…

Rangers have been bolstered over the past week with a complete blockbuster package of new deals for club assets, with yet more being confirmed in the past 36 hours.

Following the breaking news in the past fortnight that Ryan Jack is in the pipeline for a new deal, we quickly heard Jermain Defoe would follow along with a potential coaching role.

However, the surprise deal for Nikola Katic yesterday has only aided the strengthening of the squad, and now Allan McGregor’s name (who Ibrox Noise was regaling only a few days ago) has been added to the growing list of critical assets (potentially) tied down long term. In the latter’s case, it’s contractual, where 25 appearances secured him an extra year extension anyway, but whatever the cause, he’s the best around and we’re delighted to have him.

Steven Davis, of course, was made permanent in the summer, and there is absolutely no doubt the machine Steven Gerrard is building is getting very, very serious, and performers are being rewarded for their outstanding performances.

We covered only recently the critical importance of Defoe, McGregor and Davis, and all 3 will be with us for a bit of time yet to say the least – the other stormtrooper, Scott Arfield, is still secured for another three years anyway so Rangers’ key men are long term, no doubt about it.

So, in the past 6 months (potential and confirmed):

Steven Davis, Jermain Defoe, Ryan Jack, Allan McGregor and Nikola Katic.

This Rangers is serious.
