Controversy over Rangers winger as manager makes ‘example’…

The Glenn Middleton at Hibs saga has intensified after the winger lost his place following the bizarre spat with Paul Heckingbottom.

The ex-Norwich youth infamously scrubbed all Hibs regalia from his social media some two weeks ago, before curiously restoring them two days later, but has seen his previously near-guaranteed place in the side gone and himself benched.

In fairness to Heckingbottom Middleton’s form has been, well, middling, with two assists in 7 appearances, so by no means disgracing himself he equally hasn’t overly shone.

But it’s that bizarre erasure of all Hibs mentions for 48 hours from his social media profiles and even stranger returning of them that really does make us wonder what happened to cause it.

Nevertheless, Middleton has been benched ever since, his last appearance coming at the start of this month three days before he went ballistic on the Internet – if there is a clause, which we imagine there must be, Hibs will be careful not to breach it and you can be sure the youngster will play again.

But for now it looks like he’s sitting on Hibs’ bench rather than Rangers’, which really isn’t a good use of anyone’s time.
