Manic Monday at Ibrox – latest Rangers chaos in all its glory….

A crazy afternoon of chaos is underway at Ibrox, and we’ll now do our best to bring you all the updates in a bitesize chunk of digestible fun.

Here we go…

Jordan Rossiter’s departure is confirmed. A low-key exit to Fleetwood Town (at least it’s League One) is Rossiter’s loan destination. This kid will be loaned out till his contract expires. Rangers don’t want to waste money paying him (or anyone else) off so loans work till then.

Alfredo Morelos will travel to Gibraltar today – after Stevie’s admission of injury there were doubts the Colombian would even travel, but he does at least make up the squad.

Jamie Murphy has seen his Rangers chances diminish hugely after being predictably axed for tomorrow night and the return leg. Following his omission from the Oxford friendly, and participation instead in the reserves, his prognosis isn’t terribly positive.

He’s not alone though – Jon Flanagan was dumped too – a surprise move given his split form last season. This is a bad sign for Flanagan – Steven Gerrard appears to be confirming Flanagan is behind Andy Halliday as deputy for Borna Barisic.

And of course the biggest non-shock (but reported as the opposite) is the omission of Daniel Candeias. Good performance or not yesterday, Steven Gerrard has signed three wingers this pre-season – that’s not the act of a man happy with Candeias or any of his other wingers. Stevie is clearly overhauling his squad and Candeias, honourable performer though he is, will never be of the standard needed.

Last but not least, Greg Docherty’s inclusion in the squad suggests Stevie is being won over by the ex-Hamilton man. He was quick to put the 22-year old out on loan, but pre-season so far implies Docherty may have a big role to play this season. For Rangers.

A number of outlets also claiming Gerrard rejected Newcastle – we can’t verify the accuracy of this, but we’re not shocked that Stevie would want to stay at Ibrox with a building squad, burgeoning reputation and European football over the basket case at St James’.

Gerrard also cleared up the Ross McCrorie nonsense. Some claims about his loan having clauses in it – we were bewildered by all this, but he’s announced there is no clause, no stipulation – it’s a basic loan and that’s it.
