Steven Gerrard might have to take a huge gamble this month

Steven Gerrard has a major risk on his hands following Alfredo Morelos’ yellow card against Aberdeen last weekend.

With cup bookings accumulating, another yellow card against Derek McInnes’ men at Ibrox in the replay will see Morelos suspended for the potential semi-final against Celtic, and obviously his void in that one would be colossal.

Does Gerrard run the risk of losing his star man for the semi-final by letting him loose at Ibrox on the 12th, or does he play it cautious and save him for the semi-final by sending out Kyle Lafferty or Jermain Defoe instead?

Of course, the removal of Morelos would hugely hamstring Rangers, given the pest that the £20M-rated Colombian is to opposition defences – and he has goals in him against the Dons so his void would definitely be felt.

But equally, would potentially losing him for the semi-final be a risk worth taking?
