Latest Rangers developments; reprieve for fan favourite?

Ryan Jack’s potentially-season ending injury may just have opened the door for recently out-of-favour Ross McCrorie to stake a claim back into the first team.

The Auchenhowie graduate, highly rated here at Ibrox Noise Towers, has found his chances limited to zero since the signing of Glen Kamara, but now that Ryan Jack may well be struggling for a period (undetermined yet) the holding anchor could find himself right back in the thick of it for the run in.

Currently, Rangers have a definite three fit midfielders – Steven Davis, Glen Kamara and Ross McCrorie.

Scott Arfield wasn’t himself on Sunday, having seemingly recovered from an injury, and Matt Polster apparently remains out of contention as well, with a well-reported groin problem. Perhaps these two will be available for Friday but we highly doubt it.

Nevertheless, with Jack currently unavailable (it seems), McCrorie suddenly gets hurtled into the first-team scene with critical priority, meaning the midfield for the trip to face Paul Heckingbottom’s side is likely, fitness-based to be Kamara, McCrorie and Davis.

Either way, whoever else is selected ahead of Kamara and McCrorie, it does seem a very big opportunity for our youth product to show just why he should be in every week.

It still doesn’t sit well with us here that Kamara just came in and stole his place, without having earned it, and being, in our honest opinion, a lesser option.

McCrorie may have a chance to finally show why he should never have been dumped in the first place.
