Four out, one in – Tuesday transfer chaos at Ibrox?

Rangers’ transfer window got slightly crazy today ahead of Thursday’s deadline with one deal completed and three imminent while one further became speculated.

Ibrox Noise takes you through the wheeling and dealing on this tumultuous Tuesday.

Carlos Pena
is set to be freed. No one at Ibrox has the slightest interest in him and his deal will be terminated via mutual consent, losing Rangers around £3M. It’s curious that Steven Gerrard had zero desire to bring him back and at least give him a shot, but Pena has more to deal with right now than football. He’ll get a nice little pay off and Rangers will be shot of the biggest failure of the Caixinha era.

Meanwhile Jordan Rossiter is close to his loan move out – Sunderland, Motherwell and Dundee Utd have been mentioned but it’s not clear which one, if any of them, he’s going to. But he will be going.

Speaking of a third midfielder, Jamie Barjonas is back out on loan, this time at Raith. He returned from his loan at Bury only a few weeks ago, but he’s too green to be considered first-team material yet and it’s better for him to play at a decent level where he can grow more.

And then there’s the ongoing soap opera of Alfredo Morelos; after Nice were speculated to be putting an £8M bid in for him, Turkish giants Galatasaray are said also to be to be considering a bid. The cash-rich Mediterranean side would have no issue with the transfer fee, but Rangers will not want to sell at any price.

Last but not least Chicago Fire’s Matt Polster is set to seal his permanent switch to Rangers. The utility midfielder/defender is to put pen to paper on being an immediate transfer, with Rangers adding yet another international to their ranks and giving cover at right back and midfield.
