Unbelievable. This will have Derek McInnes quaking….

Rangers welcome our Aberdonian friends to Ibrox tonight in a clash which normally would be top of the table, but thanks to McInnes’ men’s terrible form is a mere top v midtable encounter instead.

That said, Rangers Aberdeen matches are always laced with aggression, passion, and a level of hate, especially at Pittodrie, that we rarely see anywhere else in Scottish football, including the Old Firm.

Naturally this one is of course on our patch, and despite how weak Rangers have been the past few years, the statistics make incredibly grim reading for their opponents.

Rangers have an incredible 28 points of our last 30 at Ibrox, making Aberdeen’s currently dismal away record (they’ve only won one in six) even more poignant. Furthermore, in every single one of those matches, they’ve conceded at least one.

Aberdeen haven’t won v Rangers in the last five attempts – when even Pedro is able to gub you, you know you’re in trouble, and in 29 visits to Ibrox, only once have the Dons managed to pick up all three points.

In short, with Rangers’ current form, and Aberdeen’s, failure for Gerrard’s men is borderline unthinkable.

Rangers might not yet be quite back to our former glory, but the hoodoo Aberdeen have suffered against us going back effectively 30+ years remains very much in place, despite how poor we’ve been the past half decade.

And with our recent improvement, surely it’s only going to get worse for cup final-losing Aberdeen tonight?
