Two superb strikers; do Rangers have a stunning January choice?

With Rangers’ striker troubles well documented, Ibrox Noise suggested giving our own Ryan Hardie a chance come next month, but two names have been also been mentioned as potential new recruits, one of whom has been linked since Steven Gerrard became touted for the manager’s job himself.

We begin with Ayr United’s Lawrence Shankland, and the 23-year old hitman’s electric form which is more than attracting admirers including those of a Rangers persuasion. The self-confessed Rangers fan has scored an incredible number of goals in his 23 appearances for the season, with a staggering 27 netted for the striker who can easily be described as the best goal machine in the country outwith the very top SPL clubs.

Furthermore with six assists to his credit too, the former St Mirren man can lay them up for others as well as finding the net with comical ease himself, so not only can he score, he can provide as well.

Valued six months ago at a quarter of a million by Ian McCall’s men, his season form would have easily quadrupled that sum, but his deal expires next May and if Rangers were to make a move for him, he would surely be a modest cost as a result.

On the other side is the perennially-linked Dominic Solanke, who has been hyped with a move to Ibrox for what feels like forever. This one would be harder given the hitman is being tracked by Palace and West Ham, and if either can guarantee him first team football they’re likely to be his preference.

But then, what Liverpool kid doesn’t want to learn under Steven Gerrard playing for a club of similar grandeur and stature to the Anfield outfit?

Who would you pick?
