Gerrard to move for current Champions League defender? Reports

Rangers have been credited with a January interest in Greece international defender Vassilios–Konstantinos Lambropoulos, who currently plies his trade with Mediterranean giants AEK Athens but has been reportedly told by the powers that be to find a new club.

The 28-year old stopper has spent his entire career in Greece but has never played more than 30 league matches in a full season, and has a modest 247 appearances in all competitions.

It’s a surprising target for Steven Gerrard to pursue, if these reports are true, given he’s currently in and out of favour at the Olympic Stadium and is not a clear first pick these days; but Rangers do need cover in defence with doubts about who actually convinces.

Lambropoulos’ current deal expires at the end of the current season but Gerrard may seek to secure him in January given his alleged expendability to Athens.

We will see.
