8 to 3 – controversy over Old Firm poll

The Old Firm clash has been given some added spice following a poll on the BBC’s website which suggested only three Rangers players are good enough to feature in a composite Old Firm XI.

According to respondents, only Allan McGregor, James Tavernier and Alfredo Morelos would make it, with the other eight positions all taken up by players of an East End persuasion.

This means no place for Croatian international Borna Barisic, Albanian international Eros Grezda, Canada international Scott Arfield or Scotland international Ryan Jack, to name just four of the high-profile absences.

Instead, respondents believe the likes of McGregor, Sinclair and Forrest would be first choice every time, with Celtic’s Edouard also ahead of Daniel Candeias, Ryan Kent and Kyle Lafferty.

Whether we on the site agree with this wholly or not, it suggests, for the neutral, and for those fans of both sides who responded, there appears to be a consensus that Celtic’s are miles ahead of Rangers’ counterparts.

The only way to defy this opinion is to win at Ibrox.
