Gerrard to make January move for EPL left-back; reports

Steven Gerrard has tonight been linked with a January move for Liverpool youth talent Adam Lewis, 18.

The young left back, who can also operate in midfield, has been shining for his country and youth club in various competitions and fixtures of late, and with Rangers’ issues at left back well-documented, Gerrard may be interested in some competition with a potentially fine rising star of the English game.

With 8 goals and over 20 assists in the youth incarnations of the Uefa competitions and Premier League 2, Lewis is a clear talent with a tonne of potential and Gerrard of course knows him better than anyone having coached him as recently as May with Liverpool U18s, and some media outlets suggest he has already made a formal inquiry for the international youth star.

Whether he would be able to secure him this January remains to be seen, but Gerrard made him captain so knows just what kind leadership this kid has and what he could bring to Rangers.

Furthermore, with cross-border rules affecting his age, if this was to be a permanent signing rather than a loan, it would only be a modest six-figure sum.

Whether the player would want to commit his future to Gerrard at Ibrox is another matter.
