How Thursday’s team gave THIS clue about key Gerrard player decision

There were many things to watch out for when Rangers’ XI was confirmed for Thursday night’s clash with Shkupi, but of even more interest was the bench.

And if the choices for the bench are anything to go by, Wes Foderingham has been chosen by Steven Gerrard as the deputy who will make way and Jak Alnwick, last season’s number two, will continue on in that role.

For the former number one to fail to make the bench for such an important clash illustrates everything Steven Gerrard thinks of him.

The ex-Swindon man has divided the Rangers support with a portion believing he was our best player the past two seasons while others didn’t think him close to being good enough – it has created a lot of arguments over the period since he joined.

But Jak Alnwick has really only impressed when given a chance between the sticks, and essentially got the whole split to himself last season – it appears he did enough to impress Gerrard and is likely to continue in the role of deputy stopper for the foreseeable future.

Stevie Ger did admit one of these goalkeepers (Foderingham, McCrorie, Alnwick) would not be happy and it would appear it’s Wes who drew the short straw.
