Gerrard signing admits concerns over summer window additions…

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has admitted the squad is a little thin with regards defenders and he believes more are needed.

Speaking on the return from the Malaga camp, McGregor confessed the trip had been productive and a good bonding exercise, but he urged caution over the number of defensive additions.

He said:

“I think it’s important for all the goalkeepers (having a good defence) but I think, personally, I would rather have a few more (defenders) but it’s just the way it is that the European games come quite early so just need to take it in your stride and deal with it.”

He is right of course – Rangers have only two recognised centre backs on the role sheet in Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson, with Fabio Cardoso on the verge of an exit and Bruno Alves effectively off to Parma, and frankly that’s not enough.

It’s an area Rangers remain thin in, and while we wouldn’t say we’re worried, it’s one to keep an eye on. Hopefully Steven Gerrard and the team are continuing to work on getting CBs in.
