Steven Gerrard announces third friendly v UCL side for Rangers

Steven Gerrard last night
confirmed an extra friendly has been included in Rangers’ pre-season program
with a clash against Welsh Champions League side The New Saints to precede the visit
of Bury.

Speaking at the end of Rangers
training camp in Malaga, Gerrard dropped the extra fixture in and revealed that
the Welsh outfit, who Rangers drew with during a patchy pre-season last time
around, will once again come to the now Hummel Training Centre in a likely
closed door fixture to give Stevie his first taste of management in earnest.
Naturally ‘it’s all about fitness’
but then it isn’t, is it? Teams want to win friendlies and managers want to
test their summer ideas in practise, and while the main aim is getting the
heart and lungs in shape, nevertheless morale gets a huge boost with a win and
a manager learns if his ideas are any good or not.
Rangers will also want ‘revenge’
on last summer’s disappointing result at Auchenhowie, and while there will be
no coverage of this match for the wider fanbase, nevertheless supporters will
be glued to their devices awaiting the latest updates.
Here’s hoping Gerrard manages a
positive start.
