Rangers linked to Manchester City star…

Steven Gerrard and Mark Allen have today been linked with rising Manchester City prodigy Phil Foden.

The 18-year old has been widely regarded as one of the high-potential youths coming through in English football for some time, and his manager Pep Guardiola rates him as good as anything else he has, theoretically anyway.

Mark Allen of course is encumbered with contacts at the Etihad and with Steven Gerrard as manager Foden could well be tempted into a loan spell north – despite the youngster’s sterling (no pun intended) talent, he is still unlikely to be a significant first-team player next season so a spell on loan in Govan could well benefit him, City and of course Rangers.

Notably, he became the youngest player in history to receive an EPL winner’s medal having made five appearances in the league for City last season and to say the future is bright for this lad is an understatement.

If Gerrard and Allen play their cards right, this could be a truly superb signing, at a level truly above what Rangers have suffered recently.

Mind you, we suppose we said this about Gedion Zelalem too…
