Gerrard makes move for 22-year old striker – journalist

STV’s Raman Bhardwaj has tonight claimed Steven Gerrard and Rangers are firmly interested in Nottingham Forest’s Jason Cummings, but that the two parties remain divided on an agreed fee.

Cummings returned to the City Ground some weeks ago following the end of his loan spell, but made it clear he wanted to remain at Ibrox – it seems, according to Bhardwaj’s information, that the striker did enough to impress new manager Steven Gerrard and the 38-year old Rangers boss wants the player in Govan.

However, Forest have been long speculated as wanting at least £1,000,000 for the 22-year old while Rangers are said to want him for less.

Forest boss Aitor Karanka has been scathing of Cummings, misguidedly or otherwise, but the Scotland striker did ingratiation into his parent club no favours by making it clear he didn’t want to be there and did want to remain in Scotland.

And it seems the former Hibs man has put his eggs into the Gerrard basket in hopes the two clubs can finally reach an agreement for him.

This one could yet run for some time.
