EXCLUSIVE: SPFL chief covering tracks following King pressure

Following accusations by Dave King that SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan has vested interests elsewhere albeit will not face action by Scottish football’s governing body, the businessman has nevertheless set to work on his online profiles, deleting everything and anything he can.

The ‘friend’ of Celtic major shareholder Dermott Desmond was appointed non-exec chairman of INM which Rangers’ chairman argued was a clear conflict of interest in favour of Celtic, Desmond, INM and of course the SPFL – while evidently violating the impartiality positions of such authority are supposed to have.

MacLennan is under severe pressure due to his business choices, and there is no denying his position at INM (Independent News & Media Group) is now very much in question, and the SPFL similarly under pressure to remove him from their board due to aforementioned clear breach of independence guidelines.

Coming after Garry Hughes’ past was exposed by King, Rangers’ chairman is exerting significant influence and pressure on cases of clear bias or anti-Rangers sentiment, and one can only agree that neutrality must be key in Scottish authority.

MacLennan may just find his position becomes untenable. As, frankly, it already is.
