Steven Gerrard’s Rangers linked with £7M ex-team mate

Following Steven Gerrard’s appointment as Rangers on a four-year deal, Rangers have been heavily linked with a move for his ex-team mate Martin Skrtel.

The 33-year old Slovakia captain was a rock behind Gerrard during their time at Anfield, and the circa 100 cap currently plies his trade in Turkey with Fenerbahce, with around 20 appearances this season for the Turks, albeit a season slightly marred with injury.

The former Zenit stopper has experience of the highest levels, with Liverpool, Russia, Turkey and of course the world cup and European championships to his name, and with Rangers desperately needing armaments at the back, a leader such as he would be welcome.

The Slovak cost Liverpool around £7M all those years ago and Fenerbahce paid roughly the same for his services, and Gerrard would probably see such a player as a vital component of his rebuilt side.

Early days of course folks but viva la revolution!
