Major Rangers target formally rejects Ibrox switch…

Rangers can officially move on from any interest in Crystal Palace’s James McArthur after the supposed boyhood Rangers fan confirmed he wants to finish his career at Selhurst Park and has no interest in a switch anywhere.

The 30-year old defensive midfielder has been on Rangers’ radar for some time, and a number of weeks ago was said to be a very close thing with reported claims he was as close as Scott Arfield to signing up, but it appears that was wide of the mark and now the Scotland international has pledged his allegiance to Palace.

He said:

“I’m not bothered [about the speculation], I’m a Palace player, I love it here. I want to stay here. I’d love to finish my career here. I love it.”

That’s about as clear as it gets, and it certainly explains why Rangers have since moved onto other targets.

The ex-Hamilton man would have cost a few quid, supposedly being in contract for another two years according to himself, even if all information contradicts this – nevertheless, he is now a busted flush and Rangers have other players in mind.
