Rangers in line for £5M bonus windfall?

After the SPFL announced the latest figures, despite recent form suggesting Rangers will find it difficult, finishing second in the league became utterly critical with a near £2.5M windfall should Rangers overcome Aberdeen and Hibs.

Record prize money has been confirmed for the top slots, and with Rangers’ coffers needing serious cash, it has become even more imperative than ever for Graeme Murty’s men to seize the initiative and secure that runner’s up spot.

Without that £2.3M, Rangers will struggle to secure the needed players next season, and the difference between second third is still a very significant £300,000.

Meanwhile the fourth placed team will bank £1.7M which is still reasonable, but Rangers must aim for the best they can manage and that’s second with that near two and a half million paycheque.

Securing that on top of European football is simply beyond critical this summer, and while form of late has been questionable, if Rangers can turn it around and produce an immense run in with the split, second place and guaranteed Europa League qualifiers could net Rangers a solid £3M – each stage of the Europa League qualifiers Rangers navigate would be worth over £200,000 and managing to make the group stage adds a further £2M.

So, if Rangers can successful grasp second and manage to get into the UEL group stage, £5M would be guaranteed.

It’s all ifs and buts of course, but the stakes are absolutely massive.
