Worrying future for Rangers legend…

With Graeme Murty’s Rangers Revolution (how many ‘Rangers Revolutions’ are we going to have?!) well underway, Ibrox Noise alluded in a recent article to how a number of players such as Niko Kranjcar, Jordan Rossiter and Eduardo Herrera were feeling threatened by the new arrivals and had gone to great lengths to big themselves up publicly.

Well, there is another player who must be looking over his shoulder now, and the site covered him some months ago – with his ‘replacement’ in stellar form, captain Lee Wallace is in a very tricky place right now.

Like it or not, guys, Josh Windass is only going to leave if he is sold for a good price. Somehow he has become a first-team stalwart without anyone really noticing.

Ergo, the notion of Declan John taking his left wing place to accommodate Lee Wallace’s return is a non-starter.

Murty appears to be settled on a 4-2-3-1 and unless Rangers are going to have a bench teeming with first-team players, Windass and John are likely to be left wing and left back respectively.

Which leaves Wallace. What happens now to the Rangers legend?

Many fans did advocate him returning to LB, shifting John more advanced and possibly switching Windass inside to the false 10 position. That is possible.

But it leaves only two attacking slots available for Michael O’Halloran, Andy Halliday, Eduardo Herrera, Kenny Miller, Jamie Murphy, Jason Cummings and Alfredo Morelos to name just seven players who would expect dibs.

Will Lee Wallace really find himself benched to accommodate John retaining the LB slot while Windass takes the left of the three?

In truth, in many ways it would make a selection headache easier for Murty if a good bid came in for Windass and he was sold. It would streamline the squad for starters.

Cummings and Morelos are surely definite starters. Kilmarnock’s Jordan Jones may well arrive too and not to warm the bench either, so what on earth does Murty do?

In fact we have no idea! What does Graeme Murty do with Lee Wallace? We will give it to you guys.
