English giants set to make seven-figure bid for Rangers star; reports

After dropping a huge hint that he sees Josh Windass as part of his future plans at Ibrox, manager Graeme Murty better be braced for further bids coming in for the in-demand striker following Leeds United’s entrance into the bidding war for the 23-year old.

Windass is said to be in talks for a contract extension, and has been a-near ever present under Murty, while scoring a healthy chunk of goals, and such form saw Wigan have a bid rejected, before Preston had the same.

But the Elland Road side are on the cusp of being a Premiership team, being well in the hunt for a promotion play off place, and do not lack resources. Thomas Christiansen is eager to snap up Windass and suspicions are that he will have the backing to make a serious seven-figure bid for the ex-Accrington man, one Rangers would find hard to reject.

For his part Windass has reportedly stated his preference is to stay at Ibrox, and a recent poll on the site marginally favours that too, but anything above £1.5M comes in, we suspect Rangers may just accept.

With Jamie Murphy, Jason Cummings, Michael O’Halloran and Daniel Candeias to name just four, Rangers are certainly plum with options for the winger and attacker position, so there is plenty cover should Windass leave, and indeed Rangers’ lack of desperation to sell could attract a much more lavish bid too.

More on this story as we get it, folks.
