Season 2017/2018 – provisional squad?

Article by: Richard, for Ibrox Noise

Rangers have taken a 25-man squad to England for a week’s training and two away games against Watford who are managed by Marco Silva, a friend of Pedro’s, and Carlos Carvalhal’s Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.

All three managers are Portuguese and Caixinha is so pleased that both friends of his readily agreed to take on the pre-season friendly matches against his new Rangers team.

Pedro has signed so many new players to the club and travelling together for nearly a week should help tremendously well in gelling the players together at training and especially off the park.

It’s a great opportunity for all 25 guys to get to know each other better than before.
The first game went exceedingly well with a reportedly good performance and an even better 2-1 win. Daniel Candeias opened the scoring in the first half with substitute Martyn Waghorn slotting in the winner only two minutes from the end, to earn a well-deserved away result.

It was a very good game for Pedro’s new look Rangers side against a team who avoided the drop last season. The Hornets finished six points above the relegation zone in17th place in the English Premier League.

If, however Rangers fail to sign any more players before the end of the transfer deadline, then this as things stands could be the provisional first team squad for season 2017-18.

Rangers’ 25-man travelling squad:

Goalkeepers: Wes Foderingham, Jak Alnwick and young Liam Kelly.

Defenders: Lee Hodson, James Tavernier, Bruno Alves, Fabio Cardoso, Danny Wilson, David Bates, Ross McCrorie, Lee Wallace and Jordan Thompson.

Midfielders: Daniel Candeias, Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans, Niko Kranjcar, Carlos Peña, Jordan Rossiter, Dalcio, Jason Holt and Josh Windass

Forwards: Eduardo Herrera, Alfredo Morelos, Kenny Miller and Martyn Waghorn

There were no places in the travelling party for Myles Beerman, Jamie Barjonas or Aidan Wilson.
