Report: newly-signed trio registered in time for Euro clash

According to increasing speculation, the three previously unannounced Rangers, Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera and Alfredo Morelos have all secured European registration at Ibrox in time for the visit of Luxebourg’s Progres Niederkorn on the 29th of June for the first round of Rangers’ return to European competition for the first time in five years.

The deadline for registration was reportedly June 19, but with no announcement regarding any of the three incoming signings till this afternoon, fans assumed Rangers would be without their services for the opening of this season’s European adventure.

However it has been claimed that rather than just Fabio Cardoso, Ryan Jack, Daniel Candieas and Dalcio being at Pedro Caixinha’s disposal for the first round, Morelos, Pena and Herrera are set to join them.

There had been confusion over why none of the three had been confirmed publicly yet by the club, despite photos from the Rangers Training Centre confirming at least Morelos has joined, but nevertheless bar aforementioned announcement, it seems the trio are not only Rangers players now, but were secured with paperwork submitted in time for the opening Euro fixture. And with Morelos announced this afternoon, it seems only a matter of time before the others follow.

Time will tell if these claims are corroborated but we certainly hope so.

Incidentally, Bruno Alves is unlikely to be available for said match due to his international duties with Portugal at the Confederations’ Cup – Portugal could end up going home early, but with the knock out stage starting on the 28th and Portugal’s final fixture in the group stage being the 24th, it is cutting it thin.
