Warburton confirms Bell to return in a fortnight

Mark Warburton today confirmed goalkeeper Cammy Bell is around 14 days away from full fitness.

The one-time Scottish cap has been out injured since the playoff defeat at Fir Park, and with Wes Foderingham establishing himself in Rangers’ goal, the issue is open regarding who will become the permanent fixture between the sticks once the former Killie stopper returns.

Warburton said on Bell:

“He’s closer, he’s training well, he’s trained outside on the grass and been working with goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart which is nice to see. He’s making good progress so I’d say he’s a couple of weeks away.”

Foderingham has been an issue of mild contention from some fans, with questions about his kicking being raised, but his excellent save at Alloa and generally solid interceptions from cross balls suggest he will have to make a big mistake or lose drastic form for Warburton to consider reinstalling Bell at Ibrox as number one.
