The three favourites for the Rangers job

The odds for Vitor Pereira &
Derek McInnes have dramatically dropped and the current Olympiakos boss has
become joint second favourite to take the helm at Ibrox with the Aberdeen boss. While they
are still 6/1 behind odds-on favourite Mark Warburton 1/6 the emergence of
the Primeira Liga & Scottish League Cup winners in recent times plants them
firmly in the race to seize the biggest task in Scottish football.
Alex McLeish, Stuart McCall, and
Ian Cathro have fallen away despite media reports strongly linking them to the
job, and it really does now look like the position is a three-way battle
between Warburton, Pereira and McInnes.
Warburton is technically a free
agent, after leaving Brentford over transfer disagreements, but Pereira and
McInnes remain contracted to Olympiakos and Aberdeen
respectively, while Pereira
faces being fired over speculated talks with Rangers over the Ibrox position.
His bosses were unkeen on these
reports, and Portuguese media claim he is about to lose his position, making
his appointment inexpensive – this probably propels Warburton and Pereira to
the front of the queue due to the compensation Rangers would have to pay
Aberdeen.
But ultimately it truly does make
Warburton justifiably odds-on as he is the only free agent as of now.
