Stuart McCall: “Vuckic is returning to Newcastle”

Slovenian forward Haris Vuckic
has once again pled with Rangers to make his stay in Scotland a permanent one, but
manager Stuart McCall has doused the notion of him losing focus or staying at Ibrox.
Vuckic reiterated his pleasure at
how things are going in Scotland:

“I’m really enjoying playing football. At Newcastle I didn’t have
that chance. In football people can forget you quickly. So I’m really enjoying
it at the moment and playing well. We will see what Newcastle have to say. Rangers would be a
good option for me because I’m really enjoying my football here. This is the
happiest I have been for a while with my football because I am playing every
week. As a player, that is all you want. To show people that you are good. If I
go back to play Under-21 games with Newcastle
I would go even further back. I want to play first-team football.”
But McCall was unmoved by this
and has suggested the on-loan Newcastle
attacker is not thinking about next season and will return to St James’ as arranged:
“Haris is fully focused in this moment in
time in doing his best for this club and that is how he would be regardless of
who he is playing for. He still has a year left on his contract at Newcastle United, which
is a fantastic football club and it would be disrespectful of him, which he
hasn’t, to talk about what might happen next season. He has enjoyed his time
here and he’s played ever so well for us but all his focus is on up to when his
loan period finishes. He then goes back and becomes a Newcastle United player.”
There is no question Vuckic has
spoken about his ambitions, but his manager is clearly keen to keep his mind on
the job at hand. Sadly, he might not be similarly keen to keep him at the club, despite his form.
Something the Slovenian clearly wants.
