The majority of supporters were horrified by two recent announcements by Rangers over the course of the evening. First of all was the departure of Lyall Cameron to Dundee United on loan. Then secondly Connor Barron departed to Middlesbrough also on loan. To say that this had Rangers fans gutted would be the understatement of the year.
Rangers fans react to Cameron and Barron exits
The majority were appalled to see two young Scottish, gritty, hardworking players with a lot more energy and far more up for the fight being loaned out. All this while dross like Dan Neil remains in the shirt. There has been the notion over the course of the summer that Derek McInnes was extremely keen to get a Scottish core and Rangers mind back into the club. However, these events have definitely cast major doubt over that.
Neither Cameron nor Barron could ever be mistaken for Barry Ferguson. But both showed a work rate and endeavour that fans really wanted to see, especially from homegrown players. However, the simple reality is that Derek McInnes, or forces above him, do not agree. Quite frankly, the fans are not exactly thrilled about it.
Lyall Cameron showed hunger and endeavour
Lyall Cameron certainly didn’t play, as we said, like Barry Ferguson, but he showed hunger and endeavour. He also did a lot better than perhaps the chances he got at Rangers indicated. The same certainly applies more so with Barron, who played much more but was never favoured by any manager at Ibrox.
Connor Barron struggled for opportunities
Despite his hardworking graft, his ability to pass the ball and his pure endeavour, the former Aberdeen man was more often than not an unused substitute. The reaction of supporters to these departures has certainly been telling. It is far from positive.
When seeing slop like Dan Neil and even the struggling Cammy Devlin in the shirt, Rangers fans do wonder what on earth is going on at their club.
Supporters far from thrilled
