Rangers have seen some improvement with 5 wins of 6 in all competitions lately, with Derek McInnes getting a better spell as Ibrox boss.

There is, of course, the future way beyond, and to this day, one man many fans would love to see Steven Gerrard to Rangers.

Teddy Sheringham spoke to Betvictor regarding Rangers’ former manager and winner of 55, about the prospect of the Liverpool icon coming back.

He said:

“Steven Gerrard back to Rangers? When you do so well at a football club, your name is always going to be mentioned when things need getting back on track.”

“I think he spoke to them about 18 months ago, and again a year ago, it looked like he might return. There are many factors to consider when becoming a manager at a top club in that country. You want everything to be right, and clearly, it wasn’t.

“Otherwise, he would have taken the job, but only he knows why he didn’t. Who knows what might happen down the line.”

Of course it’s widely known why he didn’t. The same reason Kevin Muscat didn’t. Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart.

Now-gone, both of them hijacked pretty much every boss who said yes way back when, and ruined things for the club.

Of course, Gerrard has always stuck to his line of it being the wrong time and other polite missives, but it wasn’t the wrong time to travel to the UK to talk to the club in person, was it.

As it turned out, Danny Rohl ended up persuaded to do the job, before he moved on and now it’s McInnes.

But Ibrox Noise nor Sheringham would ever rule out a future which sees Steven Gerrard to Rangers and returning to Glasgow’s south side.
